The Jira Alternative

A Jira alternative for teams that work with customers, not sprints.

Jira is built for software teams. If your tickets are support requests, orders, claims or jobs for customers, you need a board that knows who the customer is. BaseCloud runs tickets and processes on a Kanban board inside the CRM, next to the customer's calls, emails and invoices. We moved our own tickets off Jira onto these boards.

  • Built for software teams

Sprints, backlogs, epics and issue types are setup a support or operations team never uses.

  • The ticket doesn’t know the customer

A Jira issue has no record of the customer’s calls, emails, quotes or invoices.

  • Automation runs out

Jira Standard includes 400 automation steps per user a month. At the limit, automations stop until the next month unless you pay for more.

Tickets on the client record

What a Jira alternative should do for customer work

  • A board built from your own process

Create a table with the columns you need, such as priority, owner, due date and files, then show it as a Kanban board with one column per stage. Drag a card forward and the status changes for everyone, live.

  • Every ticket belongs to a client

Click a card and you are on the client’s record, with their call recordings, emails, texts, quotes and invoices. The person working the ticket doesn’t have to ask what happened last week.

  • The customer hears about every move

A workflow starts when a card changes stage and sends the customer a text, WhatsApp message or email. It can also assign the next person or create a follow-up task.

  • Automation with no monthly limit

Workflows are included on every plan, with no monthly run limit and no fee per task. You pay only for the texts, WhatsApp messages, calls and AI a workflow uses, so your automations don’t stop in the third week of the month.

  • Tickets created for you

A website form, or an email forwarded from your support address, can start a workflow that finds the client and adds the ticket to the board. Nobody has to retype it.

Jira features against BaseCloud

Both columns come from each vendor's own published plan pages in October 2026. Jira is its Standard plan. The rows where Jira has a tick and BaseCloud doesn't are the ones a software team should weigh.

Questions

Jira alternative questions, answered

Is BaseCloud a good Jira alternative for software development?

For work tracked in stages, yes. You can group tickets by sprint, total the points in the list view, tick off checklists on a card and connect your code host with webhooks. BaseCloud has no backlog planning, burndown charts, timeline view or built-in Git integration, so a team that plans in sprints will be better served by Jira or another development tool. We run our own tickets on a BaseCloud board, which works because we track them in stages.

What are the Jira automation limits, and does BaseCloud have them?

Jira counts automation in steps: every trigger, condition and action that runs is one step. Atlassian’s published monthly allowance for Jira is 150 steps on the Free plan, 400 per user on Standard, 750 per user on Premium and 1,000 per user on Enterprise, pooled across the organization. When the allowance is used up, automations stop until it resets, unless extra usage is switched on at $0.50 per 1,000 steps.

BaseCloud has no monthly limit on workflow runs and no fee per task. A workflow only costs money when it sends a text or WhatsApp message, makes a call or uses AI.

Who is BaseCloud a better fit for than Jira?

Support, operations, service and order teams whose tickets belong to customers. If the question you ask most is “where is this customer’s order or request”, a board on the client record answers it faster than an issue tracker.

Is BaseCloud cheaper than Jira?

Not if a board is all you need. Jira Standard is about $8 a user a month and has a free plan for up to 10 users. BaseCloud is a full CRM sold per package: Foundation is $583 a month billed yearly for up to 5 users, with the phone system, texting, WhatsApp, quotes, invoices and boards included. It saves money when it replaces several tools, not one. See pricing.

Can I import my Jira issues?

There is no one-click Jira importer. Export your open issues to a Google Sheet and a workflow adds them to your table row by row, each matched to its client. Most teams bring across only the work that is still open.
