Scaling An Online Health & Wellness Ecommerce Store With Google Ads

This case study focuses on a rapidly growing health and wellness ecommerce store specializing in natural supplements, eco-friendly products, essential oils, and wellness products. The business wanted to increase online sales through highly targeted Google Ads campaigns while maintaining profitability in a competitive market.

A one-month reporting period was analysed, with the primary objective being to improve revenue performance, increase conversions, and identify the most profitable traffic sources.

The Challenge

Operating in the highly competitive health and wellness industry presented several challenges for the business. The store needed to increase online purchases consistently while improving visibility for high-margin wellness products without overspending on advertising.

In addition, the business needed clearer insight into which traffic sources were producing the highest return on investment. Previous campaigns lacked the level of attribution and optimization needed to scale efficiently.

Our Strategy

We implemented a highly targeted Google Ads strategy focused on attracting high-intent buyers searching for supplements, wellness products, natural remedies, essential oils, and eco-friendly health products.

Campaigns were structured around purchase-intent keywords, allowing us to target users who were actively searching for products and ready to buy. Ongoing optimization ensured that ad spend was allocated toward the highest-performing keyword groups and audience segments.

To improve performance tracking, we implemented detailed Google Ads Attribution Path analysis. This allowed us to monitor purchase journeys, assisted conversions, time-to-conversion, and revenue attribution across multiple traffic sources.

Using these insights, we continuously refined campaign targeting, optimized budgets, removed low-performing traffic, and prioritized the traffic sources generating the highest revenue efficiency.

Results Achieved

During the reporting period, the ecommerce store generated a total of 34 purchases, resulting in approximately $117,736 in total revenue.

Google Ads played a major role in overall performance, with CPC campaigns directly generating significant revenue through high-converting purchase-intent traffic.

The direct CPC campaign results included:

  • 7 purchases generating $37,280 in revenue
  • 5 purchases generating $16,096 in revenue
  • 3 purchases generating $8,144 in revenue
  • 2 purchases generating $5,127.20 in revenue

This resulted in a total direct CPC revenue contribution of approximately $66,647.20.

Overall, Google Ads directly contributed roughly 50% of total revenue during the reporting period.

Assisted Conversion Performance

Beyond direct conversions, Google Ads also played a strong supporting role throughout the customer journey.

Attribution path analysis revealed additional assisted conversions from users who initially interacted with paid campaigns before converting later through organic channels.

The assisted conversion paths included:

  • CPC → Organic generating $1,888 in revenue
  • CPC → Organic → CPC generating $1,312 in revenue

Including assisted conversions, Google Ads influenced an estimated $69,847.20 in total revenue, accounting for approximately 59.3% of overall store revenue.

Key Insights

One of the strongest findings from the campaign data was the revenue efficiency of Google Ads traffic.

Google Ads generated the highest average purchase revenue per conversion at approximately $3,920 per purchase, significantly outperforming other traffic sources in terms of revenue quality.

Paid traffic also delivered the shortest conversion path, with an average time-to-conversion of only 0.57 days. This demonstrated exceptionally strong purchase intent from users arriving through CPC campaigns.

While organic traffic contributed solid conversion volume overall, paid search consistently delivered:

  • Higher revenue per customer
  • Faster conversions
  • Better purchase intent
  • Stronger overall ROI efficiency

The attribution data also highlighted the importance of assisted conversions, proving that Google Ads not only generated direct purchases but also supported upper-funnel discovery, brand awareness, and returning customer conversions.

Conclusion

The data clearly demonstrated that Google Ads was the primary revenue driver for the business during the reporting period.

With over half of all revenue attributed either directly or indirectly to CPC campaigns, paid search proved to be both highly profitable and highly scalable.

The strategy successfully delivered:

  • Increased ecommerce revenue
  • Higher-value customers
  • Faster purchase cycles
  • Stronger return on ad spend
  • Sustainable long-term growth potential

Through accurate attribution tracking, ongoing optimization, and highly targeted campaign management, the business was able to establish a scalable acquisition system capable of driving continued growth.
